Nineteenth Election
The Federal Election Commission announced the final results of the ninth election for the European Parliament on June 24, 2019. The election was held on May 26, 2019, and 96 members of the national German constituency were elected to the European Parliament.
Two Parties Without European Party Affiliations Succeed
Two parties without European party affiliations were successful in the 2019 European Parliament election in Germany. The Partei, with the acronym PARTEI, won two seats, and the Free Voters, with the acronym Freie Wähler, won one seat.
These results show that there is growing support for parties that are not aligned with the traditional European party system. This trend is likely to continue in future elections.
